VISITABILITY
Visitability is a competition based in Hartford, CT where Interior Design students can enter by designing visit-able and accessible single family homes. Since the Fair Housing Act Accessibility Guidelines (FHAAG) covers only multi-family units, and not townhouses or single family homes.
So, not only can a disabled person live here, but a non-disabled person with friends or family with disabilities are able to visit and have easy access to the space around them.
I worked with two other students, Tiany H. and Justin G. We all came up with the floor plan together, and each of us drew one elevation and one perspective drawing. Another part of the entry was to build a model, which we all worked on as a team.
We placed fourth in the competition, this assignment was a great teamwork exercise and helped me out a lot with learning more ADA guidelines and requirements.
